What We Do

Since 1939, when we started as the Salinas Rodeo Rider’s & Sheriff’s Posse, we have led the effort to protect our Western Heritage in the Salinas Valley and beyond.

 

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse’s Mission is to inform, educate and provide a facility that supports the western lifestyle. We provide rental facilities for equine events, weddings, corporate meetings and parties as well as other activities. We host the annual Big Hat BBQ, Visiting Posse Fun Night, Junior Rodeo and our annual Car Show which are long standing community events in the Salinas Valley.

What We’ve Achieved

  • Celebrating our 76th Year of Monterey County Sheriff’s Posse Junior Rodeo, making us the oldest continuous running youth rodeo in the State of California

  • Scholarship monies to Hartnell College from the Charles Atwood & Coeta & Donald Barker Foundation

  • Big Hat BBQ celebrating a tradition started in 1913

  • Miss Valerie Costanza representing MCSP wins Miss California Rodeo Queen 2018
